Surgery went great!!

Praise God. We were just paid a wonderful visit by the Neurosurgeon and were told that our Alex has successfully made it through the procedure to close the opening in her spine. Of course, she's still in recovery, and quite "schnockered" as the doc put it. As a result of the pain medication, she will be on a ventilator for a while, since the medication tends to make babies forget to breathe, but all seems to be well.

We will wait to see how she recovers from this procedure before setting an exact date for the shunt to be put in, but he's thinking it will likely be in less than a week.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers. We're certainly not out of the woods yet, but at least we've made it through to this point, and for that we're grateful.

We'll post pics soon, as we're about to go see our little miracle right now.

Until next post...

**EDIT: I don't think we're going to put any pics up for now, as the wound is open, and not exactly "cute." **

Welcome to the world Hope Alexandra!

You are beautiful! You look like your mom.
You are so lucky to have such great parents and family. You are a miracle baby. A miracle happened when you where conceived, a miracle happened when you were born and a miracle happened when you made it through your first surgery. You are a fighter and we know you are going to have a wonderful life.

We can't wait to meet you!

Love,
Bryant, Kitty, Nina & Mia Fernandez
